Words vs. Phrases vs. Sentences

You can use this lesson to teach students the difference between words and phrases, and the difference between phrases and sentences. Additionally, the lesson also covers:

• capitalization at the beginning of sentences
• the 3 types of sentences*
• the 3 end punctuation marks for the 3 types of sentences

*This lesson uses the terms telling sentence, asking sentence and shouting sentence instead of the terms declarative sentence, interrogative sentence and exclamatory sentence because the lesson is designed for very young children <6 years.
